Introducing the #AISummer2023 series, a continuation of the original #30DayAIChallenge in Spring. As the field of AI evolves, this series delves deeper into the latest advancements in AI tools and capabilities. It represents not just my practical tinkering over the Summer, but a metaphorical ‘summer’ of AI growth and evolution.
With the popularity of Generative Fill & Expand in Adobe Photoshop, Midjourney finally hopped on the Inpainting bandwagon and introduced the “Vary Region” feature recently. I was keen to test this out, but also go a step further and create something a little more cohesive and interesting. Enter the first AI generated hotel industry recruitment Ad!
Here’s the final product:
How I Did It
Here are the tools and techniques used:
- Scriptwriting – The ideation and scriptwriting (including the narration) was done using ChatGPT.
- Visuals – The base visuals were all created on MidJourney and I then took these and used the new “Vary Region” feature to select everything but the head…then used Remix to create new hotel based settings and roles / uniforms. Here’s some handy documentation from Midjourney if you’re new to this. To take this one step further I also face-swapped the various images with my own. Initially, I also tried animating the stills using both Runway and Pika Labs, however I wasn’t too happy with the output quality and resolution, so I stuck with the stills and added in a zoom for movement.
- Sound – I used ElevenLabs for the audio narration and got the background music track from YouTube Studio.
- Editing – As usual, I used Final Cut Pro X…though pretty much any video editing tool would work equally well.
That’s about it…what do you think of the ad and Midjourney’s new inpainting capability? Have you tried it yet? Leave a comment or DM to let us know!
Update: Here’s a second hotel industry recruitment ad, this time using multi-lingual AI audio…check it out here.
