Day 20 – Use GenAI To Create Easy FAQs and Tutorials – 30 Day AI Challenge 2024

Week 3’s theme is “School of Bots“, tackling AI and education, with a view on improving our ability to learn, as well as teach others (including our kids!).

Today’s Challenge: Use Generative AI To Easily Create FAQs, Tutorials And Training Videos

FAQs, quick rich media tutorials and training how-to videos are great as they offer quick, accessible answers to common questions and step-by-step guidance on various tasks. On Day 20 of our challenge, we’ll dive into how Generative AI can speed up the way we create, update, and personalize FAQs and tutorials, making these resources more helpful, accessible, and engaging.

Getting Started: Make Your Own AI Powered FAQs, Tutorials

Here’s how to approach this challenge with currently available Gen AI tools:

1. Identify the Need: Start by pinpointing what topic or process needs an FAQ or tutorial. It could be anything from using a software application to troubleshooting a common issue at work…or even figuring out what the most likely questions people will ask, based on your website or product description.
2. Use AI Writing Assistants: LLM Powered AI Chatbots like ChatGPT can help you draft answers to common questions or step-by-step instructions. Simply provide a brief description of your topic, and ask the AI to generate an FAQ section or a tutorial automatically.
3. Personalization and Language: Use AI to tailor the language and tone of your content to match your target audience. If you’re creating a tutorial for beginners, ask the AI to use simple language and include more explanations.
4. Visual Aids: For tutorials, visual aids can enhance understanding. Use AI-based image generation tools like DALL-E or Midjourney to create custom visuals that complement your instructions.
5. Review and Revise: AI-generated content isn’t perfect. Review the content for accuracy, relevance, and clarity. Make necessary revisions to ensure your FAQs and tutorials are helpful and easy to understand.

Practical Example 1: Creating An FAQ In Seconds

In this example, we’ll simply use a website and ask ChatGPT to create a bunch of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) based on what it can determine from the content of the site…all it takes is a few prompts! You can also use Custom GPTs or simply take the descriptive content and provide it to the chatbot in order for it to create the full FAQ.

Practical Example 2: Creating A Simple Tutorial With Supporting Visual Content

In this example, I use a custom GPT that can create diagrams. To make things fun, I asked it to create a timeline showing all the different Star Trek themed series in terms of where they fit into the overall narrative…

Practical Example 3: Create A Short Presentation / Video

In this example, we create a well researched summary of what A Day in the life of a futuristic hotel (say in 2030) could look like. We tap into a variety of sources of information, from the web to existing YouTube videos and also research papers…then create a summary that can be turned into a video script, plus a basic Powerpoint presentation and a YouTube video itself.

There are also plenty of websites and Gen AI powered tools that make the creation of talking video avatars quite easy…pretty handy if you’re looking to create a video tutorial or training video, for example. These tools, like HeyGen featured below, keep getting better with every new version:

For Experts: Advanced Techniques

Advanced users can push the boundaries of what’s possible with GenAI in creating FAQs and tutorials. Here’s how:

1. Dynamic Content Generation: Explore AI tools that allow for the creation of dynamic FAQs and tutorials, which can adapt based on user feedback or the most frequently asked questions over time.
2. Interactive and Adaptive Learning: Use AI to create interactive tutorials that adapt to the user’s pace and learning style. Incorporating AI into learning management systems can personalize the educational experience.
3. Voice and Video Generation: Advanced AI tools can generate voiceovers or video tutorials with virtual presenters, making the content more engaging and accessible to different learning preferences.
4. Analytics and Improvement: Use AI to analyze user interactions with your FAQs and tutorials. This data can inform continuous improvement, making your resources even more helpful over time.
